Phnom Penh – On the evening of February 6, Prime Minister Hun Manet publicly stated that the Royal Government has no plans to change ministers in various ministries, addressing recent rumors. He urged officials to maintain a calm and focused work environment during a closing conference that summarized the achievements of the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications over the past five years and outlined its future direction.
In the presence of all ministers, Prime Minister Hun Manet reiterated that the authority to appoint or change ministers lies solely with him. He stressed, “If I am not informed about any changes, there is no reason to worry about new ministers being appointed.”
The Prime Minister dismissed the speculation about ministerial changes, clarifying that there is currently no policy in place to overhaul the ministerial positions, thus putting to rest the rumors regarding upcoming personnel shifts.
He highlighted that discussions regarding potential changes to ministerial roles have circulated since late 2024, mentioning claims that “there will soon be 5-6 changes in ministers, causing officials to hesitate in their duties while awaiting new leadership.”
Addressing the rumors directly, Prime Minister Hun Manet stated, “Let me make this clear. The process of appointing or requesting a ministerial change is a responsibility that falls under my purview as Prime Minister. If I am unaware of such changes, it can be assured that there is no need for concern. Therefore, I encourage everyone to move forward without fret.”
Furthermore, he urged officials across all ministries to devote themselves to their work without being preoccupied by the idea of ministerial changes, emphasizing the importance of diligence and commitment.
